2021 Commercial Kick-Off FAQ

IS A SHADE ANALYSIS STILL A REQUIREMENT?

Yes, it is. It is required when you first submit the project and when you submit installation photos.

IN CASE 10 KW SYSTEM INSTALLED AT 180 AZIMUTH AND 2 KW SYSTEM INSTALLED AT 290 AZIMUTH, CAN WE SUBMIT THE INCENTIVE APPLICATION FOR ONLY 10 KW?

Yes, you will be able to submit for the 10 kW only as the 2 kW does not qualify based on being outside the eligibility Azimuth.

IS THE RESIDENTIAL INVERTER KW LIMIT AT 15KW AS WELL?

We do not have an inverter kW limit. However, your system size cannot be more than 15 kW.

DO WE LIST ONCOR AS A CERTIFICATE HOLDER IN ALL OUR INSURANCES?

Yes. Please review the Program Manual for all insurance requirements or contact the EEPM Help Desk.

DO WE NOT REQUIRE A PICTURE OF THE METER WALL VIEW PART OF THE REQUIRED PICTURES?

It is not required for this program. If the photo requirements change we will notify all service providers.

SO IF WE SOLD A 15.5 KW SYSTEM TO A HOMEOWNER, THE INCENTIVE WON'T BE APPROVED UNLESS WE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR 15KW FIRST AND INSTALL 0.5 KW LATER AFTER THE ONCOR INSPECTION?

You can proceed to submit 15kW of the 15.5 kW for incentives. When you have been approved to install, you can install all 15.5 kW but you would only submit the documents relevant to 15 kW for inspection as that is our major concern.

IF WE HAVE A 17KW DC SYSTEM, CAN WE APPLY INCENTIVES FOR 15 KW DC AND INSTALL REST WITHOUT CLAIMING INCENTIVES?

Yes, you will be able to do this as long as you remember to list in the comments section that you installed 17 kW but only submitted 15 kW worth of the project for incentives.

DOES ONCOR LET THE CUSTOMER KNOW HOW MUCH INCENTIVE THE SERVICE PROVIDER RECEIVED IF THE CUSTOMER ASKS?

No, we do not. Although, if you have not communicated with the customer and we reach out to you without getting a response, we will be obliged to inform them.

CAN WE SUBMIT PROJECTS AS SOON AS WE ARE PROGRAM APPROVED?

You must be approved to be able to submit projects but the program will open on the 27th for accepting projects. You will not be able to submit any projects until the 27th of January.

WHAT IS THE FORMULA TO CALCULATE THE INCENTIVE?

We have provided an estimation calculator for our service providers to use on eepm.oncor.com.

END TO END PROCESS / STEPS OF SUBMITTING DOCS DID NOT CHANGE FROM LAST YEAR, CORRECT?

Please refer to the 2021 manual for this information.

WILL THE EEPM INCENTIVE PROGRAM AFFECT RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMER’S TARIFF AGREEMENTS IN ANY WAY?

No, this is an Oncor program for Oncor customers. The incentive is part of the energy efficiency program and has no impact on the Tariff.

DO YOU HAVE TO HAVE AN APPROVED ONCOR DG APPLICATION PRIOR TO SUBMITTING AN EEPM INCENTIVE APPLICATION?

You must have an interconnection agreement with DG for that project.

IF A 20 KW IS SOLD, AND ONLY 15 KW SUBMITTED FOR INCENTIVE, CAN THE FULL 20 KW BE INSTALLED IN 1-GO WHILST SUBMITTING DOCUMENTATION IN EEPM STRICTLY FOR THE 15 KW AN INCENTIVE WAS RESERVED FOR?

Yes, as answered in question 7

ON THE ONCOR SITE, INCENTIVES HAVE A RULE IN THE QUALIFICATIONS, "TILT ANGLE SHOULD BE BETWEEN 0 (HORIZONTAL) AND LATITUDE + 15 DEGREES" DOES THIS REFER TO A TILT UP, OR THE EXISTING TILT OF A ROOF?

This is the tilt of the installed array, of course the roof tilt will also impact this.

FOR PREMIUM, DID TERRY SAY 18.5 OR 19.5% EFFICIENCY FOR PREMIUM?

He did say 18.5. I believe that is what is listed in the Texas Technical Manual. That should be the same it has been the last couple of years. Yes, 18.5 module efficiency and above is Premium.

SORRY, MEANT 180 AZIMUTH...

No, state rules will not allow us to accept any azimuth outside of 270; if the rack can be set to meet the 270 then that would be a question to ask for the inspector. They will have the final say on the azimuth contact the inspections manager for verification. This would be considered a unique situation.

CAN YOU EXPAND ON THE NEW CONSTRUCTION BULLET POINT? NO NEW BUILDINGS CAN HAVE SOLAR INSTALLED AS PART OF THE PROGRAM?

A new building or home can be submitted but not until the permanent meter is set. That would be at the end of construction. The rule is that we do not accept any project that is served by a temporary meter.

TO BE CLEAR, IF A COMMERCIAL CUSTOMER INSTALLS A 500 KW DC ARRAY BEHIND ONE METER, THEY CAN SUBMIT 300 KW DC OF THE 500 KW DC? IN PAST I THOUGHT WE WOULD REDUCE THE SIZE OF THE ARRAY TO QUALIFY? THANKS!

If your system is larger than the maximum 300 kW DC, you are still eligible to participate, but you can only submit up to the system’s maximum size. To eliminate confusion during inspections, the installer will need to contact the Program Manager about the system being larger than the maximum allowed and that a portion of the system will not qualify.

CALCULATOR IS CURRENTLY ACCURATE FOR CALCULATIONS FOR THE 2021 PROGRAM?

Yes, it is.
